I'm Keisha; a woman with many hats. I’m a wife, mom, girly girl, candle connoisseur, Christian and one of your biggest cheeleader. I am a lively, bubbly person who loves candles and just about anything that is fragrant (perfumes, air freshener, body lotions, mist, sprays...you name it!) I also have a genuine love for people! God and family are first in my life. I take great pride in my candle creations. It's my personal endeavor to always treat my customers with respect, tender loving care and professionalism!
How did my journey begin?
I'm glad you asked! Family and friends can attest to my fetish for candles, fragrances and body care products. My home became a wax museum, literally, with shelves decorated with innumerable candles. From new and old; used and unused, my home was a repository for exclusive molds of perfumed wax! In retrospect, my vast collections was driven by one pursuit, finding the perfect candle! By that I mean one that was organic, distinctive, and environmentally safe, offering a truthful fragrance while maintaining its smell!
If you share the same passion as I do, you want your senses to identify with the product. Allow me to take you on a candle scented odyssey! If you purchase a “Summer Garden” candle, you expect that item to smell like one. You would envision a gentle mesh of Lily-of-the-Valley, Hyacinth, Oriental Lily, Phlox or Lilac to permeate through your home. The mere aroma would mentally transport you to the middle of a botanical garden where flowers danced to the rhythm of the wind. Now that’s powerful imagery and an amazing candle!
The candles that crossed my path were the opposite of my expectations. They also posed possible health hazards to my family. Candles were always chosen with them in mind. It became evident that if I wanted a candle to meet my criteria, I would have to create it! Now that was a novel thought!
In 2013 I started researching and learning how to make candles. Shortly after, I took that first step towards experimenting with various waxes, oils and other ingredients. Before I knew it I was creating candles I absolutely loved. Candle making was something I was passionate about. It was a hobby. It was relaxing, calming and rejuvenating. I found tranquility in making candles. In early 2016, God have me a word. "If you start a candle business, I will bless it," said the Lord. I've always wanted to start my own business to create financial stability for my family and leave a legacy for my children, but I never thought of converting my passionate hobby into a business! Are you kidding me? But I believed God and Agapé Candle Company was born! Agapé is the greek word meaning unconditional and selfless love. It is the highest power of love and the purest form of love. It is used in the bible to describe the love God has for His children. It is this kind of love that is that portrays the depths of my heart and business.
While still working a fulltime job I began taking baby steps in growing the business. In October of 2016, after 15 years of dedication I was laid off from my job. Wow! I was catapulted into a fulltime business.
Our 3-in-1 soy candles were the first products to be launched under the Agapé Candle Company brand, but my passion wouldn't allow me to just stop with candles. Over time our brand has evolved to include a range of luxurious body care products that offers a relaxing, aromatic home spa experience. Since our first day in business we’ve been bringing the best selection of products and merchandise to our customers. Our name has become synonymous with quality throughout the entire Houston, Humble and surrounding areas.
The earlier stages of this journey were a bit scary, but I had a word from the Lord. It was my foundation. Today I am finding much joy in this journey! Nothing can compare to the pleasure and pride I get every day from hearing so many compliments from our happy customers. I know I did the only right thing for me and my family.
